Adam Pollard – Managing Director
Having left the Royal Marines in 1990 Adam read Geography at Exeter University before entering the Financial Services industry and establishing Sound Financial Management in 1997 with the desire to help clients achieve their financial goals.
He brings energy and enthusiasm to a sometimes complex topic whilst his resilience and optimism helps to keep his clients and their businesses ahead of the game.
Adam is an enthusiastic mountain biker and skier and is always looking for new and exciting challenges.

Paul Meatyard – Director
Paul grew up in Plymouth where he attended St Boniface College. After entering the financial services industry in 1988 he joined Sound Financial Management in 2004 as a director.
Paul works with clients throughout the UK and specialises in pension, investment and inheritance tax planning. He recognises the value of establishing close personal relationships with clients when it comes to managing their money ensuring the all important element of trust is maintained at all times.
He has made appearances on local radio in his capacity as a financial planner and has also written numerous financial articles for the press.
Aside from attending the gym regularly, Paul has a passion for winter sports, particularly snowboarding.

Stephen Murphy – Director
Stephen is well versed in all aspects of financial planning, his specialist knowledge lies in Pensions, having studied and passed Advanced Papers in ‘Trust & Taxation’ and ‘Pensions’. He works with a wide variety of clients including company directors, business owners, high net worth individuals and professionals, helping each of them to make the best of their finances.
Stephen has three grown-up children and enjoys an active lifestyle. He particularly enjoys skiing, scuba diving, cycling and running.

Emma Hibbard-Leach – Financial Controller
With her degree in European Business Studies, Emma gained a wide-range of experience with several organisations, large and small, throughout the UK and overseas before joining us in 2001 as our Financial Controller. She is responsible for the accounting and operations of the company helping to ensure we deliver the highest quality service for clients using efficient, effective and compliant processes.
Away from the office Emma enjoys walking with her dog along the Devon and Cornwall coastline, Pilates, board games, and eating out.

Graham Coates – Financial Adviser
Graham is an Independent Financial Adviser who offers financial planning for both corporate and private clients. He has worked within the financial services industry since 1998 and has been with us since 2001.
Graham has a wealth of experience and aims to offer a bespoke service, developing long term relationships with clients so as circumstances, needs and priorities change, he can manage things positively to deliver meaningful outcomes.
Graham enjoys spending time with his two children, loves a good game of football as well as skiing in the winter months.

David Moore Bsc (Econ) – Financial Adviser
David joined Sound in 2001. He has a wealth of experience and helps clients with all aspects of their financial planning.
A keen canoeist, when not in the office David enjoys exploring the coastline of Devon and Cornwall and beyond.

Benjamin Phillips-Jones – Financial Adviser
Having studied Financial Services at UWE, Bristol, Ben joined SFM in 2008. He has qualified under the new RDR rules as Dip FA.
Ben is a family man with three children and has been living in Plymouth for the past five years. He loves cricket, eating out and visiting National Trust properties.

Charlie Hill – Chartered Financial Planner
Charlie joined Sound Financial Management in 2014 having recently completed a degree in Business Management. Since joining he has studied for his Financial Services exams and achieved the Status of Chartered Financial Planner in 2020, placing him amongst the most qualified advisers in the profession.
Through his qualifications Charlie is both a Pensions and Taxation and Trust specialist and therefore is able to assist with complex queries for a range of sophisticated clients.

Jon Marshall – Employee Benefits Consultant
Jon began his career in financial services in 1988 and worked for Royal London as an adviser and Standard Life as an underwriter before making the decision to join us in 2006.
These days Jon is responsible for the smooth running of the portfolio of company pension and staff benefits schemes we administer for our corporate clients.
Whenever he gets the chance, Jon enjoys getting out to the countryside for long walks with his wife, Lorna and their Cavapoo, Elsie.

Ryan May – Financial Adviser
After graduating from the University of Plymouth with a degree in History, Ryan worked in the legal sector for seven years before joining us in 2017.
Ryan qualified as a Financial Adviser in 2019 after undertaking the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. He is now looking to further his professional development by working towards Chartered status.
In the rare moments when Ryan is not studying or spending time with his young family, he enjoys socialising and is an avid golfer.

Greg Humphries – Senior Financial Planner
Greg joined our team in 2019, he has been providing holistic financial planning advice to private clients for over 30 years.
Greg has a long and distinguished career within financial services working for the last 15 years with leading advisory firm Charles Stanley PLC, specialising in Inheritance Tax and Retirement planning, whilst also having served as Regional Director of its employee benefits arm and advising key executives with approved tax efficient solutions for their personal financial planning objectives.
Greg is married with two children and in his spare time enjoys travel, mountain biking and windsurfing.

Natalie Irving – Administrator
Natalie grew up in Saltash where she attended Saltash Comprehensive School. After leaving school she worked as a trainee general insurance administrator.
In 1986 Natalie joined Cramb & Symons Insurance as their office manager. Cramb & Symons became Westward Asset Management in 2001 and merged with Sound in 2014, bringing Natalie with them to join our team.
Natalie and her husband Mark are celebrating their 30th Wedding anniversary this year. They have 2 daughters and enjoy foreign holidays, eating out and socialising with friends and family.

Caroline Rockett – Administrator
Originally from Edinburgh, Caroline worked in the investment management industry for ten years before moving to Plymouth in 2005 with her husband, Mark. She then proceeded to work within the financial services industry before joining our team in 2017, helping to support our advisers as an administrator.
Caroline and her husband have 2 daughters and in their free time they enjoy exploring Devon and Cornwall’s costal paths and moorlands. When time permits, she loves to unwind with a relaxing yoga session.

Jennifer Moriarty - Certified Financial PlannerTM
Jennifer joined Sound Financial Management in 2019, having worked in the financial services sector since graduation from Greenwich University in 1995. She moved to the South West in 2006 and has worked in Plymouth since 2007.
In 2021, Jennifer qualified as a Certified Financial Planner™. This is the highest global certification available to financial planners in the UK. She’s also a Chartered fellow of the Securities Institute and a Chartered Wealth Manager.
Jennifer has a wealth of experience advising clients on protecting and enhancing their personal investments and pensions. This advice strikes an important balance against their lifestyle needs. At the same time, Jennifer has a thorough understanding of the tax implications of different investment arrangements. This allows her to offer her clients the very best advice and help.
Jenny lives in Cornwall and has a young daughter. She enjoys gardening and loves life outdoors.
